Treatment usually begins with a combination of medications and behavioral therapy for children between the ages of 4 and 5. Behavioral therapy begins before prescribing any type of medication to the child. The amount of the medicine is determined depending on the child’s performance and response to treatment. Behavioral therapy, at this stage, depends heavily on parent training and their ability to communicate with the child.
When moving to the stage of medication, the specialist tests the child’s response to treatment and evaluates his current level. Depending of his finds, the appropriate medication is prescribed in appropriate doses.
